Rennen/Intense Marks Up Good Results in Keystone State
June 8, 2010 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors · Comments Off
BMXNEWS was slow out of the gate in getting this one posted. As in “taking-two-Nyquil-then-letting-the-air-out-of-our-tires” slow. But, it does not diminish the fact that the Rennen/Intense team did it up proper in Pottstown two weeks back.
Team honcho George Costa filed this report:
Rennen/Intense started the NBL Keystone National weekend with a bang by conducting a 30+ rider pre-national clinic on Friday afternoon. From there, things never slowed down till the drive home on Sunday. With a top notch track, and hot weather, fun times were on tap for the Memorial Day holiday weekend in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Pottstown was the last of a busy three-NBL-national weekend schedule in the month of May, and as the saying goes “the best was saved for last”. Already having picked up two NBL team wins in May, Rennen/Intense kept on rolling with two more big point total wins, that not only earned us the win each day but extended our “overall” National Team category point lead an additional 7 points.
Our team pros represented well as Allen Currier made the trip and not only assisted with the clinic but pulled a podium finish in the Super X pro class on Day 1. Will Murray was all “Deuces” for the weekend in the big extra money Masters pro class, as the Texas Roadhouse Café threw in an extra $2000 to the pot on Day 1.Pat Parker scored on big time day 1 with a win in the 26-34 expert class, and followed that up with a solid second on day 2. Davey Maltezos represented the R/I colors in 26-34 also and scored a third on Day 2. Max Egdorf was on fire with a pair of wins in the 19-25 expert class, and Austin Loebe had a perfect weekend in 17-18 expert, never losing a lap. Both of these guys were a huge asset to the Friday clinic also!
Rochelle Wooding (14 girls/cru) and Justin Knapper (13x/cru, pictured above) both had perfect weekends, never losing a lap in either class or cruiser. Randy Bitinaitis, who now should only be referred to as “The Butcher”, spent day 1 knocking off the rust and then came up big time on day 2 with a double in 40-44 cru and 41+X classes. Meanwhile his daughter Nikki was in the 11 girls class mains both days. Ross Wooding handled the 19-24 cruiser class with main event wins both days, and Susie Levan picked up a win the ladies cruiser class on Day 1. Victor Behm powered his way to a 16 expert main event win on day 2.
We now head into a tough stretch of seven National event team competitions over a seven weekend span in June/July. Starting off with back-to-back ABA nationals in Charlotte, NC and Rockford, IL, then it’s the NBL’s classic South Park national. July 4th weekend we take a break, then get right back into it by fielding teams in both Nashville, TN (NBL), and Westfield, MA (ABA). July 17/18 will find us in the fine state of Maryland for an ABA National, with our 7th annual week-long Bethel, CT Summer Camp kicking off on July 19th. We end this massive stretch in Trumbull, CT for the NBL’s Constitution Classic National.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you ALL for your continued support!

Interview: George Costa Gets Granular on G-Cog
May 10, 2010 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors · Comments Off
Last week, BMXNEWS brought you an article about G-Cog, and how Rennen was making it more accessible to the masses through a payment plan that allows customers to pay over a year’s time. We distilled some good info out of the advance copy of the release, but we wanted to do a deeper dive with GC on G-C.
One thing that struck us since day one with G-Cog was that, in addition to being an integral part of the training program for top pros and Olympic-eyed ams, it could also be a miracle tool to help dial in the bikes and riding habits of the youngest riders our there. These young guns — say five through eight years of age, sometimes don’t know enough to say “this gear is too easy,” or “These cranks are feeling too short now.” Parents and coaches have to find out through lots of almost-wins, and spending plenty of time punching REW and Pause buttons on a remote. With G-Cog, all the data you need to make those calls is right there, if you know how to read it.
More on that concept in a future article, but we wanted to hear more about the inner workings of G-Cog, and how it can work for different groups of BMX racers. George takes us through G-Cog’s application and use from the Elite ranks, to top experts, to underperforming riders using the device to kick it up a notch.
George joined us for a taping of “Announcers Tower,” just prior to pulling out of town for the NBL Freedom Nationals in Woodbridge, VA. There, the Rennen-Intense Factory Team landed a first and a second in the two-day team sheet throwdown.
We will have more from George on a future episode of AT, so enjoy this “first installment.”

Dig the BMXNEWS.COM sticker on the console of the CNC machine. Cool to see that every Rennen gear has a little of that “News” magic built right in.
