BMX Mourns Brian Gress

November 23, 2011 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

Shocking news out of Tulsa this morning. BMX industry figure (KWEGCO chain company), dad to Kyle and Bree, and fixture on the So. Cal and national BMX racing scene, Brian Gress was struck down by a massive heart attack at his hotel last night. He was 48. We do not have any further details at this time, except to say reports of the tragedy started hitting Facebook around 11PM last night, so we assume it happened around that time.

Brian’s son, Kyle, said via Facebook that, in remembrance of his father, he will stay in Tulsa and attend the race this weekend. He also posted that he would be selling KWEGCO product to help the family offset the expenses for transport and services back to their native Simi Valley, CA. We encourage you to pick up a new chain. We will be! If you’re not in Tulsa, you can help out by going to their online store (link below).

Brian is the fourth person in our immediate circle of BMX friends to pass away in 2011. First Philip Wolcott on New Year’s Day, then Fumiko Cummins and John Kovachi in October, and now Brian Gress. BMX News extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to the Gress Family.
