Photo Gallery: Minnesota Day One

August 6, 2011 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

It was a day of many seasons in Saint Cloud, MN for day one of the ABA Land O Lakes Nationals. We went from early, broken sun, to ominous clouds, to driving buckets of downpouring rain, ending with a not-a-cloud-in-the-sky, pleasant summer day. All in seven hours.

In seeing the volume of rain that was visited upon us, no sane person would have thought the main events would be running on an all-but-dry track, under blazing sun, within 90 minutes. But the brilliantly-engineered St. Cloud track (with ample blow-drying from an army of dedicated Pineview Park volunteers) bounced right back.

Lots of great racing between the raindrops, with two solid racks of Elite Men, and classes for Elite Women, Vet and A Pro (no Junior classes). And the ams did not disappoint either, with impressive dicing in classes as young as 6 expert, and all the way up.

Congrats to Jonathan Rapp, who marked his Pro debut this weekend.

Saturday Podiums

Matt Kelty (Kovachi Wheels)

BMXNEWS will have an in-depth report on St. Cloud on Monday. Meanwhile, take a gander at our 124-image gallery from Saturday.
