BMX Community Jumps in to Support Tyler Blick
Hall Of Fame freestyler Mike Buff called yesterday to tell us about a crusade he and a bunch of friends are undertaking. Tyler Blick, the five year old son of Oakley marketing man Steve Blick, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, and now begins a long battle in overcoming the disease.
We hate to hear that anyone, of any age, is afflicted by cancer…but when it is a five year old boy, just starting his journey in life, it really causes one to say “what can I do to help?…how can I make it just a little better?”
Buff and Steve Blackey (owner of storied bike shop “The Bicycle Source”) are organizing a BMX celebrity auction on eBay, which will start early next month. Here is what Steve said in a post on Vintage yesterday:
Mike Buff and The Bicycle Source have teamed up to raise money to help Tyler Blick’s fight against Leukemia.
This benefit auction directly supports Tyler Blick (age 5), who has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing 3+ years of chemotherapy. Tyler is Steve Blick’s son, who takes care of all things non motorized with two wheels at Oakley. We’ve witnessed how incredible the BMX community can be when it comes to great causes, and this is no exception. Let’s get behind Tyler and do our part to help support this brave kid. 100% of sale proceeds will go directly to the family.
Auction will be held on Ebay and is scheduled to begin the first week of May 2011, the auction will open to all worldwide, all Items can be previewed at The Bicycle Source store at 118 South Loara Street, Anaheim, CA
We wish Tyler and the whole Blick family all the best in this tough time, and look forward to all bringing you updates on their progress in the months to come.
