4th Annual Dixieland Vintage Show A Success

Dixieland Vintage BMX show

The 4th Annual Dixieland Vintage BMX Show was held in conjunction with the ABA
Dixieland Nationals on April 2nd, 2011 in Powder Springs, GA. More than 50
bikes were entered across seven classes: 70′s Race, 80′s Race, 90′s
Race, 80′s Freestyle, 90′s Freestyle, Cruiser, and Retro. One prize was
awarded for the best in each class. In addition, prizes were awarded for
Best in Show and Best Survivor.

Here is a rundown of how the categories were awarded:

Best in Show: Jason Potts, 1988 Hutch XL24 cruiser (prize: Landrace 26
Cruiser frame/fork/padset from Porkchop BMX)

Best 70′s Race: Patrick Edwards, 1976 Suzuki GVX-1 survivor (prize: Custom
number plate from HRP Designs as well as t-shirts from HRP and Clayborn and
a NOS ACS seat clamp provided by Jeff Haney from CW Racing)

Best 80′s Race: Alex Holder, 1983 Vector Mark II (prize: wheel build/rebuild
from Kovachi Wheels)

Best 90′s Race: Carl Baker, 1993 GT Pro 24 (prize: set of Kovachi flip-flop
hubs from Kovachi Wheels)

Best 80′s Freestyle: Robert Holfels, 1987 Redline RL20-II Prostyler (prize:
$75 store credit from Porkchop BMX)
Best 90′s Freestyle: Rob South, 1999 Diamond Back Venom (prize: $75 store
credit from Porkchop BMX)

Best Cruiser: Fred Melton, 1985 Zeronine Pro 24 (prize: NOS white CW handlebars and NOS Revcore drop out savers both provided by Jeff Haney from CW Racing)

Best Retro: Jason Potts, 2004 Redline Squareback (nickel) – this is one of those only 100 made that came packaged in a display case – it was awesome to see one built up (prize: Custom number plate from HRP Designs as well as t-shirts from HRP and Clayborn)

Best Survivor: Bob Deily, 1982 Gary Little John BMX Pit Bike (prize: wheel build/rebuild from Kovachi Wheels)

Free hot dogs were also provided to participants by Ball Park, and free event t-shirts from Porkchop BMX were given to each person who entered at least one bike.
