Sneek Peek: New BMX Documentary
Lots of us have seen Joe Kid On A Sting-Ray–some have watched it so much on BMX trips, that they wore out the DVD and had to order a new one. Like any great sport, BMX Racing is attracting its share of filmmakers to chronicle the gritty, grassroots evolution of the sport and its heroes. And soon, a new BMX documentary will hit staging.
Filmmaker Armen Kotscharjan of Suburban Chicago has been working on his forthcoming BMX doc project for over three years. The film will focus largely on 1970s BMX racing, and contains footage from some of the early tracks like Palms Park and Soledad Sands in Southern California. It also contains present-day interviews with industry pioneers like Ernie Alexander (founder of the NBA–the first national sanction), and Bob Osborn (Founder and Publisher of BMX Action Magazine).
Whether you were there to see it happen, or just started racing yesterday, the teaser clips Armen has posted are “must see” material for any self-respecting BMXer.
When asked if he had a release date in mind for the final product, Armen said “No. I don’t have a release date in mind because I am still trying to locate a few specific photos/images for some interview pieces.”
BMX News, and our sister site, VintageBMX.com will keep you informed of new clips that Armen releases, as they hit the net.
