BMX Mania Keeps Summer Camp Tradition Rolling

Got an email from fellow motojournalist, Jerry Landrum with information on his upcoming Summer Camp at Hire park BMX in Warsaw, IN. This is one of those “classic” events which, if you have the ability to attend, would definitely be worth your while. Jerry tells NEWS that he has been doing the camp nonstop since 1996 (at Hire Park since 1999). Wow, 14 years of camps…We’re sure the honor roll of those who passed through the gate is thick with top current talent.

This year, an all-star lineup of camp counselors will make the trip from Rockford (where the ABA Midwest Nationals will have just ended) to Warsaw, IN for the three-day camp. The lineup includes Matt Pohlkamp/Dan’s Factory Team, Ryan Birk/Answer Factory, Jeff Upshaw/Alienation BMX, Jamie Lilly/World Champion, Justin Posey/Dan’s Factory, Natarsha Williams Birk/ 2 Time UCI World Champ, Ramiro Marino/Current UCI World #3 among others.

Price for the whole Magilla is $195 ($220 if paid on the day-of), with day passes at $75ea. All campers are expected to provide their own hotel accommodations.

With a high teacher-to-student ratio, campers will get gobs of personal attention, and parents will sing its praises at the trophy tent for some time to come. Campers will also receive what Jerry calls “a pretty hefty dose of free stuff.” This is expected to include a set of Alienation rims for each camper, Answer goodies, and swag from select sponsors.
