Snow Job

NBL Southern Charm Nationals in McDonough, GA

In what could otherwise be described as a most elaborate photo session for next year’s Christmas card, the NBL soldiered through a freakish five inches of snow in Georgia, and made the race happen. Looking at the above photo (thanks to HRP Designs’ Stuart Harrison), Las Vegas odds makers would have put the chances at 20-1 against getting even one gate to drop. Yet, 61 motos, run two-moto-transfer, came off with an awkward…shall we say…Southern Charm. Someone on the forums said it best that “nationals where weather is a factor seem to be the most memorable.” Indeed, so we will be hearing some good stories out of this one, no doubt!

By the time BMXNEWS got this posted, most folks had gone to bed to make it in time for the 8AM first gate on Sunday (unless it rains frogs, or something tonight, that is). But there were stories about the track being on fire at one point (presumably to dry the soft spots, but…), so you can bet we will be getting the full story tomorrow, and reporting it here, along with highlights.
