Bob Tedesco Steps Down as NBL DOC

Following the final race of 2009, the NBL announced this morning that Bob Tedesco has stepped down as Director of Competition, effective immediately.
As many know, Bob had a consulting arrangement with NBL which runs/ran through the end of 2009. Apart from that was his post as Director of Competition (a position which still wielded a fair amount of power). It was expected that, along with any shift in the makeup of the board, Bob’s DOC position might also have changed over, so this departure is not unexpected, though a month or so earlier than expected.
The NBL issued a press release this morning stating “The NBL Board of Directors will leave the position vacant until after
Competition Congress in early February when a new Board of Directors will be elected…During the interim, the NBL will be accepting resumes for the position. Once the new Board of Directors is in place, they will review the candidates and choose the best candidate based on the criteria set forth in the NBL Bylaws.”
When asked by BMXNEWS if this was the absolute end of Bob’s involvement in NBL, however minor, the NBL office said “Yes, this is the end of Bob’s involvement with the NBL. He’s finally comfortable with the direction of the company and thinks it is in good hands without him, so it was a mutual decision that we all thought would be best for the NBL going into the new decade.”
BMXNEWS further asked how decisions usually reserved for the DOC would be handled in the interim. NBL spokesperson Jess Moore said “The Competition Committee (a subset of the Board of Directors, plus Gary) will still be in place and will make any competition-related decisions during the interim.”
BMXNEWS will be reporting from Competition Congress on all the important developments happening with respect to Board of Directors elections and the appointment of a new DOC.
