Tricks and Treats for the Rennen/Intense Team at Disney

Halloween weekend 2009 was full of racing activity for the Rennen/Intense squad, as a majority of the team found themselves in sunny Florida for the ABA’s Disney Cup Fall Nationals. Our crew had their Intense Podiums all lubed up with a fresh batch of Finish Line lubricants and running smoothly. Unfortunately they were in need of sunscreen for their time outside the arena with the southern temps reaching the 90’s with some high humidity factoring in.
As the only Factory/National level team competing in both sanctions team series’ our year is winding down, Disney was the last regular season event before the Grands in Tulsa over Thanksgiving weekend. When all is said and done, the team finished up with a trio of 3rd place finishes in the Factory division and two of our riders became 2009 Disney Cup individual class champions. Here’s how our Disney riders fared over the three-day event:

Cameron Moore: Making his 2009 debut for Rennen/Intense, Cam dominated the 11 year-old cruiser class with a trio of wins using his 2010 Fly Racing Patrol race pants along with the THE G-Cog helmet. Cam also picked up a first and second in 11 expert after washing out in the main on Friday.
Shawn DiPrete: Took a pair of wins in the 36-40 expert and cruiser class along with a pair of seconds as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.

Austin Loebe: First race back off the DL and he worked his Morphine Suckerpunch handlebars to a 16 expert main event win on Friday. Now he has another month to continue the rehab training prior to the Grands.
Pat Parker: “Draped in white and ready for a fight”, Parker became the “Disney Cup” champ in 26-34 expert class with a win on Saturday and a 2nd and a 3rd the other days. Pat uses Sinz limited edition aluminum stealth forks (and what are you gonna say about it!) and lays down the power with his new D202 gold KMC chain.

TJ Maniscalchi: Used his Morphine Thumb sucker stem and Rennen 5 bolt chain ring to work his way into the 11 expert mains all three days, finishing with a 2nd and a pair of 4th’s.

Mike McGonigle: Mike FINALLY got a second team jersey (~phew!~) and used both to take a pair of wins in 26-34 Expert, but left the door wide open for his teammate to pick up a win and the Disney Cup by missing out on Saturday’s main (something about a knee???).
Max Egdorf: Ran in the super deep 17/18 expert class and made two out of three mains after taking himself out on Friday qualifiers. Knowing Max, he probably tried out three different front tires over the course of the weekend, I wonder if the Micro Knobby or the Haalo worked best. Or maybe it was the old Hell Fire that came through for him in the end.

Will Murray: Was in the Vet Pro main event mix all three days, finishing with a pair of 3rd’s and an 8th using his Fly Racing Lite series gloves and Alienation rim bands. Hopefully he’s now running a Rennen aluminum rear cog on his race machine.
Rob McAllister: Mr. ‘Black Crown’ took Friday off but threw his “hat in the ring” in 41-46 cruiser the remainder of the weekend using his Thomson seatpost.
Meanwhile the Halloween fun and festivities were also going on up on Long Island in New York. Victor Behm, Ross and Rochelle Wooding all took part in the rescheduled NBL Northeast Regional Championship weekend at the infamous Shoreham track. None of the three lost a lap at the championship race and were thankful for the two moto transfer system as the track is one of the longest any of them had ever ridden.
Up next for the crew is the ABA Grand National in Tulsa, OK followed by the NBL Christmas Classic in Louisville, KY. In February the clinic crew will hit the road for a week and some events in Georgia (Peachtree City and Albany so far) on our way down to the Oldsmar national.
