The NBL Grands have been in Louisville for as long as some of the older experts have been alive. With last week’s release of the 2010 schedule, there is a conspicuous “TBA” on the bottom of the tour—the location of the 2010 series final. BMX News set about finding out how the plans were going for locking down the 2010 location, and not many are talking.

Derby City BMX Track Operator Ed Reinhart told us “Derby City BMX looks forward to working with the NBL in the coming years to continue to produce the best BMX racing event in the world.” BMX News contacted NBL President Ken Masters by email, but has not received a response as of tonight’s deadline (we will update the story once we have a comment).

NBL watchers are fairly equal on which other tracks in the NBL family could host an event as large of the Grands. “South Park and Waterford could be possibilities.” was the prevailing opinion of some reached by News.

Still, one unnamed source close to the matter said “NBL, The Louisville Sports Commission, The Kentucky Department of Parks, and Derby City BMX appear to be finalizing another multi-year agreement that will keep the Labor Day tradition alive at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park through 2014.”

Of course, there may be the option of a non-permanent facility to host the event. Locations for such an event are beyond speculation at this time.
