Joey Bradford Fund Jumps in to Help a “Jacked Up” Madden

October 5, 2009 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

BMXNEWS.COM reports on the Joey Bradford Disability Assistance Fund's help for Florida BMX Racer Bill Madden
You may remember that, during the NBL Grands, BMXNEWS reported, via Twitter, that Florida Cruiser star and all-around BMX good guy, Bill Madden was “OK, but pretty jacked up” (his words). The Vintage thread posted by Bill to keep people updated lists over 100 posts from well wishers, with over 5,000 views. Still, well wishes, as good as they are for moral support, won’t help knock down the $25,000 in medical bills that Madden has incurred in only one month since his third-straight digger at the Grands.

Enter, the Joey Bradford Disability Fund. The JBDF was organized in 2008 to help BMX racers, who meet certain eligibility requirements, with financial assistance during their recovery from an injury or illness. The fund is a federally-recognized 501(c)(3) organization (meaning donations are 100% tax-deductible).

On the fund’s web site, Joey talks about his motivation for starting the fund, saying “I have watched many friends, both racers and industry alike, fall prey to injury and some come down with serious illnesses. I wanted to do something that could help them in their time of need.”

The JB Fund has organized an impressive list of BMX-related items which BMXNEWS readers can own by donating to the fund (minimum donations are listed, and over-minimum donations are always appreciated).
