Free Agent Frameset helps Stephen Murray / Stay Strong

October 23, 2009 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

BMXNEWS.COM reports on BMX News from Free Agent and Stay Strong on a limited edition frameset

When UK BMX Freestyle legend Stephan Murray suffered a critical spinal injury on June 22, 2007 at the Dew Tour stop in Baltimore, MD (rendering him a quadriplegic), there was no question that Stephen’s family would need help managing the sudden financial requirements of his 24×7x365 care. In the days following the accident, well wishes poured in from all over the globe, and long-time friend Kimarie Hunt stepped up to develop a T-Shirt as a show of solidarity for Stephen among his former competitors at the following Dew Tour stop in Cleveland, OH. It wasn’t until the ensuing media coverage brought thousands of requests from supporters that Kimarie and the Murray family thought of offering the black and yellow tee as a fundraising vehicle for Stephen’s care.

The “Stay Strong” movement, characterized by its blue bracelet, has since been formally organized into a corporation, and the staystrongapparel.com store provides not only an online retail outlet for Stay Strong Merchandise, but updates on Stephen’s progress.

BMXNEWS first saw Stephen with members of the Free Agent racing team at Friday practice for the Lake Perris ABA National in February (where Stephen’s son raced the following day). Many members of the team are close friends of the Murray family, and support the Stay Strong cause by running logos on their number plates and helmets (Maris Strombergs, among them).

Today, we received a press release from Free Agent Team Manager Dale Holmes with news of an expanded effort to support the Stay Strong movement through the production of 200 limited-edition Free Agent framesets (100 Pro Limo, 50 Limo Cruiser and 50 Expert). The release states that a “good royalty for every unit sold throughout the World will go to this great cause.”

The release continues:

Simple, bold branding using “FREE AGENT” in the “STAY STRONG” signature font, links the brands with overlayed logos and “LTD ED” (limited edition) graphics. Downtube logo placement is closer to the seat tube to look a bit more core / dirt . And the blue band on the seat tube is symbolic of the charity bracelet worn by fans and riders across the globe.

If you are looking for a new frameset for 2010, that is proven on the track, and want to support a fallen BMX brother, then the Free Agent / STAY STRONG frameset is for you!

Worldwide, only 100 Pro Limo, 50 Limo Cruiser and 50 Expert framesets will made available, so pre-ordering with your FA dealer or distributor is your way to guarantee you will get to ride one in 2010.
