Word has come down from the fog-enshrouded, mountain top HQ of the UCI that the 2011 UCI BMX World Championships will be moved from Moscow to Copenhagen.  “Russia had issues” is how one source close to the developments put it to BMX News.  Copenhagen, known as “The Bicycle City,” was the first stop on this year’s UCI BMX Supercross tour, and will host another SX event in 2010.

In other BMX-related Copenhagen news, the Host City of the 2016 Summer Games  will be announced there on October 2 (go Chicago 2016!!).  Word on the forums is that UCI Track Builder extraordinaire, Tom Ritz will be dispatched to the region next week in order to build a temporary track in the “Rådhuspladsen” (located in the town center) to showcase BMX Racing during the Olympic Bid Finals. Mega props to UCI for helping to promote BMX Racing on the world stage.
