It’s On!
Well, we made it down to T-Town, and the action is warming up at Expo Square. Early input on the track is off the charts fun, challenging and seems to be setting the table for some of the best BMX racing in a long time, with leads changing, straegy being studied, and fortunes rising and falling in a few turns of the chainwheel. Word from some of the old timers who had second practice this morning is that the track started out a little "sticky," as freshly-laid tracks are want to be, but by 11AM, the tack had been largely terminated, and people were feeling that they were getting the jumps wired enough to start hitting them at race speeds.
And, tempting though it may be to start clearing things in first practice, people are being careful not to blow the weekend by overdoing it in practice, and sharing their turkey with a bunch of nurses and an X-Ray tech. In fact, for as challenging an impression as this track presents, there were very few crashes in the first few practices…a sign that the track has gotten respect from the riders.
More to come after Pro Practice this afternoon and this evening.
