GT's Mike Day and Latvia's Maris Strombergs were the two most dominant riders through the Quarters and Semi's and lane one emerged as the favorite lane choice on the Laoshan Track. Stromberg's had the best time in the last Semi and earned the rights to the lucky lane. He and Day shot out of the gate and Day came close to overtaking the Latvian going into turn one. No such luck but Mikey came close at the line with Hyper/HP's Donny Robinson in tow. Silver and Bronze for the boyz. GT's Jill Kintner used her experience to avoid two crashes and came away with the Bronze. Great Britain's Shanaze Reade, who was the favorite going into Beijing, attempted a foolish T-bone on France's Anne-Caroline Chausson in the last turn and Reade's easy Silver turned to brown. Chausson went on to win the Women's Gold. Congrats to Team USA and BMX.

About Kyle Bennett: He dislocated his shoulder in one of many crashes in the Quarters and sucked it up to almost qualify into the main from Semi's. Props to Kyle for workin' through the pain.
