The ERA (Elite Race Association) race will be Elite riders only. The Kingston track will be totally rebuilt bigger and better. It will be amazing and the riders must race on flat pedals. No one is allowed to race in tap dancing shoes. The dirt contest will be on three sets that run down between the second and third straight with the last set flying over the second corner.

It starts Friday night with time trials for the racers and qualifying for the dirt jumpers. Then on Saturday night the race goes down and the jumping final happens.

Flight tips: Fly to: Syracruse, NY or Ottawa, Canada

The ERA Kingston Cup is part of the Kingston Bike Festival which also includes the popular Metro Jam and a Flatland Contest – A chance to bring all BMXer's together to ride, compete and of course, take in one of the many after-parties. Yup, that's right, you can leave your fruitboots/disco slippers at home for this one – no clips allowed.

The track will be built on the site of the current Kingston (Ontario) BMX track and will be designed by Jay Miron (6-time World BMX Freestyle Champion) in collaboration with Tom Ritzenthaler (Olympic track builder). "The goal with the new ERA race will be to do for racing what Metro did for street contests and what Elevation did for dirt jumping.” said Jay Miron creator of Metro BMX Jam, Elevation and now, the ERA race. "We're going to raise the bar."

Keep checking the ERA website for updates and visit the Kingston Bike Festival site here. For directions to the track, visit the Kingston BMX website .
