Media Opportunities Announced for Olympic BMX Trials
Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 6, 2008)â€USA Cycling announced today several media-related opportunities in conjunction with the upcoming 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Cycling (BMX). Throughout the week preceding the event, members of the media will have several opportunities to collect video and still photos or conduct interviews with the eight competing athletes.
The following events have been scheduled to allow journalists access to the race venue and athletes prior to competition on June 14:
MEDIA CONFERENCE CALL

*This conference call will provide members of the media with an opportunity to discuss the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Cycling (BMX) with four of the athletes who will be competing in the event.

*The open training sessions and media availability periods will be open to all accredited broadcast journalists, internet media and photographers seeking practice footage, B-roll, on-camera interviews and still photography. All material obtained during these sessions may be distributed according to the attached News Access Guidelines and its accompanying internet-specific supplement. Please note, there will be two separate training sessions, one from 9:00-11:00 a.m., and a second one from 3:00-5:00 p.m. All other training sessions throughout the week will be closed to the media.

ATHLETES: Winner of the event, plus the two other automatic qualifiers to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for Cycling (BMX), Kyle Bennett (Conroe, Texas) and Jill Kintner (Seattle, Wash.).
*The post-race press conference will be the best opportunity for non-rights holding broadcasters and print and internet journalists to conduct interviews with the overall winner of the event, plus the two previously qualified athletes to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for Cycling (BMX), Kyle Bennett and Jill Kintner.
