2008 World BMX Champions / Steven Cisar W#2

May 30, 2008 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

worlds_logo.jpgWell, the Olympic selections are being decided in smoky backrooms and pubs around the world and the teams should be announced soon. Maris Strombergs won Elite Men and Sifiso Nhlapo from South Africa did his county proud by capturing an Olympic berth with his 3rd place finish. USA's Steven Cisar was on fire taking the 2nd and this should give him some momentum leading into the US Olympic Trials on June 14.

Great Britain's Shanaze Reade beat the Elite Women by half a straight and captured her 2nd title in a row. Jill Kintner was in the mix but the French women crashed (again) and messed things up. Denzel Stein was 2nd most of the way in the Junior final but fell back to 3rd – Not bad considering he paid his own way to get there!

Elite Men:

  1. Maris Strombergs, LAT
  2. Steven Cisar, USA
  3. Sifiso Nhlapo, RSA
  4. Donny Robinson, USA

Elite Women:

  1. Shanaze Reade, GBR
  2. Sarah Walker, NZL
  3. Anne Caroline Chausson, FRA
  4. Jana Horakova, CZE

Junior Men: Sam Willoughby – Australia (Denzel Stein – USA, 3rd)

Junior Women: M. Valentino – France

Guess all that hard work is paying off for Cisar – Keep it up!
