Random News, Sightings, Rumors and much less

December 31, 2007 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

enter2008.jpg A few random bits to keep you entertained until something bigger comes along. Next race is ABA Reno – a good weekend to see all the new jerseys and bikes. NBL heads to Phoenix in late January for yet another UCI race and War of the Stars. ABA's Desoto track in Texas is hosting the 2008 USAC National Championship surrounded by two days of Nationals. Almost a carbon copy of what NBL did in Michigan. Does this mean NBL is no longer with UCI and USA Cycling? NBL has resurrected the dormant Whittier track in SoCal and their hosting the Pacific Nationals one week after the USAC race.

Lots of riders still searching for those elusive bike sponsorships. Jason Richardson, DR, Jason Rogers, and Tyler Brown to name a few. Rogers made the UCI main in Columbus first day so this should improve his stock and Brown was looking good in jeans and t-shirt riding a Supercross. Reminds us of the eighties when up n' comers would don a pair of Levi's to make sure everyone knew they were 'looking'. Hope someone picks these guys up soon. Warwick Stevenson and Jeff Upshaw are rumored to be off Kuwahara. Upshaw took acception to a forced 2nd turn exit from Haro's Khalen Young in Ohio. Not much happened but it was nothing compared to the Tim Sonner/Dugan Neil scurmish. An NBL official almost got worked over in that one. Speaking of UCI, GT's Jill Kintner has apparently hurt her knee but no report on how serious. This could change the Women's Olympic situation. Redman's Amanda Geving now leads the USAC points chase. Free Agent's Kyle Bennett leads the men's USAC standings by a good margin. Standard's Randall Neave was back racing and his sponsor, Standard is sponsoring the NBL again. Rick Moliterno took production back in-house and looks to be committing to BMX racing again. re-appeared at the Christmas Classic and look reasonable. Heard he managed to get DQ'd on Day 2 for what looked like a good hearty hi-lo. Looks like

Intense and BAWLS have joined forces. GT's Joey Bradford has started up a Disability Fund to help athletes. ABA has launched ABABMXBRAND.com to promote their softstuff. Will be interesting to see how this pans. ABA has added Jig-A-Loo Lubricant as a sponsor. GO211.com is doing alot of BMX racing these days – will it last? Looks like the Greg Hill/Renny Roker Intergalactic Series won't see the light of day.

That's all we've got. Tip the glass and see you on the other side.
