NBL Question of the Month-October
Studies have proven that young boys thrive in a competitive team format, whether it be in the athletic, educational or any other setting. Does BMX in its very nature of an “individual†sport hold it back from becoming much bigger? Could a change in the team format create an environment much like a high school track and field team where you can win or lose individually but also as a team? Do we need to put more of an emphasis on team racing in order to drive the sport forward into a larger demographic and away from the few “individual rebels†the BMX has attracted in the past? Could this be one step in many to increasing the legitimacy and ridership in the eyes of “mainstream†America?
