FMF finishes the Canadian series big

The Canadian Grands weekend came along and FMF team showed up big. With Drew Mechielsen leading on both her class and cruiser bike we were feeling real good. Then when we got there Cassie Bushnell came along to try the pro class in Canada and ended up getting a Girl Pro class. This gave us a full team sheet with 6 riders for Saturday. Then as practice was running Hayden Mechielsen started getting sick and ended up having to leave to get checked out at the hospital. This dropped us a rider on the team sheet but the other 5 stepped up big and all came in with 1st place finishes. Yes Cassie started off by winning the Girl Pro class then Drew followed up doubling on both her Class and Cruiser. Josh Klatman had a tough group but pulled through with another double on both his Class and Cruiser. Chance Glissmeyer followed this up with a win in the 7 Expert Class. Dan Bushnell also pulled a 1st place in the 51-55 Cruiser Class. Also out there was 4 year old Wyatt Glissmeyer in the 5 and under intermediate class. He snapped the gate and went into the 1st turn in 1st place and was looking good. He ended up with a 4th which made us feel good. Just wait until next year when he will still be in the same class. He will be one to watch out for. Also Brother Zeb made his main in the 13 Expert class. The team scores aren’t clear yet but it looks like team FMF pulled off the win.

Sunday it was Grands day and a few of the US riders were back in the States so we had a few less riders but still a strong team. This was Drews day and she came through like the Champion that she is. It was another impressive double for her and then waiting for the rest of the girls to find out that she took home the overall #1 in both the Girls Class and Cruiser catagories. The Mechielsens have to bring a big vehicle to take home all her awards. We are very proud of both Drew and Hayden. You couldn’t ask for a better family to have on your team. Hayden was back on Sunday and racing again. He was looking pretty good on Sunday and was battling hard in both of his mains. Cassie continued on with the Girl Pro class. She got had a good battle with past FMF rider, Rosemary Adams, but came on strong and brought home the 1st place finish again. Josh was looking like he might repeat his double but going into the first corner there was a crash that took out his wheels from under him and most of the class in the Cruiser main. He came back in his Class and got that win again. Dan had a good race with the lead going back and forth but came up with a 2nd by inches at the line. We would also like to thank Fly for helping us out with our helmets and pants.
