The Kingston Can-Am International race is a point qualifier race for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Click for their website here.

The event will take place Saturday August 25th and Sunday August 26th, 2007 at the Peter Brierley Memorial BMX Track at Woodbine Park (times to be determined). The race is expected to attract between 200-400 BMX racers from across North America, and will target the best riders in the sport.

Todd Harper, President of Kingston BMX and Event Organizer, says “without the help of the Ontario Cycling Association (Nicky Pearson, BMX Coordinator) the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (Gary Kelly, Sport Tourism Manager) and our volunteers at Kingston BMX our bid would not have been successful.”

Harper says “this will be the race to attend and we will be targeting the best BMX riders in North America to join our city for that weekend, and take in our beautiful surroundings”.

Gary Kelly Sport Tourism Manager, with KEDCO says “it is great that Kingston has been chosen to host the UCI 3 BMX event, as this will mark the second international sport event Kingston has been chosen to host in 2007.

The Kingston Can-Am International will be the first Olympic points race held in Canada for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and it will mark the first time since 2002 that a UCI BMX race has been hosted in Ontario.
