Third Canadian Worlds ready to take Victoria

July 22, 2007 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

This year's World Championship will mark the third time in history that the event has been hosted in Canada. To this date, the 1985 Worlds in Whistler remains as one of the classic races in history and was held during the height of the sports first peak.  The era included movies like RAD, E.T, and Nicole Kidman's 'BMX Bandits.  In '97, the Worlds hit Saskatoon and left few memories except for John Purse's stunning win in Elite Men.

Â

This year, the Elite Men's title will be the most-watched in years and on the Women's side, it could be even more epic. France's Anne Caroline Chausson, USA's Jill Kintner and GBR's Shanaze Reade will make the win even sweeter. We're trying to think of any riders who are racing this year that have raced the other two Canadian Worlds. Eric Rupe comes to mind – is there anyone else?
