BMX WORLDS UPDATE – TUESDAY
It was an interesting day at the Worlds but overall, things seem to be running along smoothly. The track still a bit soggy for the start of practice but started to dry up by noon. Team USA hit the track just before 2pm and Brian Fell had the troops in control. Bob O'Gorman got to visit the first aid tent after a crash but hopefully he is okay. Word is out that Joey Bradford crashed a week ago and injured his wrist – hope is can still get into the mix.
One of the highlights happened near the end of the practice round for the Canadians. A TV reporter was standing at the bottom of the start hill and somehow managed to stick his foot into the Water-main. He fell in and broke the water connection causing a huge fountain to burst out of the hole. Water shot out all over him and poured onto the track stopping practice for 10 minutes. Wacked!
The usual suspects were seen VIP'ing around the pits and there was a pretty good vibe all-in-all. Practice continues on Wednesday and then Challenge class racing on Thursday and Friday. We did hear that CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Co) will be doing a live Webcast to their internet site on Saturday. I think it's www.cbc.ca and then go to the sports section. More on Wednesday with photos.
