NBL & ABA Go National Crazy

June 17, 2007 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

wheeloffortune.jpgNo less than 4 National events will highlight the year's busiest weekend of racing. Good thing they are in all four corners of the continent otherwise we'd have something to say. Crazyiness. Here's a peak at your choices for the June 22-23 weekend.

NBL National Events:
Evansville, IN, Hoosier Nationals – Last year it was a Pro event but this year they have it as just one of their Big-A races. Too big of a gap between Pro races for NBL. The track is downhill and seems to be popular with the Am's but not so much for the pros. Welcome to the hot & sticky midwest right on the heels of ABA's Rockford.

Santa Barbara, CA, Pacific Coast Nationals - Not sure what the attendance will be for NBL on the west coast but this track is well kept and has received some TLC lately – could be the sleeper of the summer. Nice location only minutes from the beach. A good chance for western based teams and riders to earn some easy points before the NBL Grands. Still waiting for the announcement that we all know is coming about the location of those grands….. grrrrr.

ABA National Events:
Charlotte, NC, Tarheel Nationals – A nice track and the only race in the Southeast should keep the numbers up. The ABA's draw in the region is smaller but it might be a choice if the Am's decide to choose one of NBL's other closer Big-A's in July or August. Spitting distance from about 6 states. Could be the Rockford of the Southeast?

Kamloops, BC, Cactus Classic National – Billy Allen put his touch on the withering Kamloops track when he made his Canadian tour and it promises to be a popular weekend for the centrally located track. Could be the hit of the summer of the if the Canadians come out to get some extra practice with only two months left before the UCI Worlds. For the many US riders who attend the ABA Canadian national series, it will give them a chance to earn points towards their US NAG totals.
Keep on Racin'
