ONE KENDA press release European Chamionship

April 24, 2007 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

one_kenda_logo.jpgRound 1 and 2 of the European Championship for Junior/Elite Men and Women were held in Habay La Neuve, Belgium. Not much to say anymore, let’s say the Belgian track had a lot of people talking already. Magalie Pottier from France was back from her injury.

Round 1
It seemed nothing bothered Magalie Pottier.
Although she was still recovering she was able to win Junior Women. Joyce Seesing from Holland made it 3rd place in her first year in Junior Women.

In Junior Men Toms Skujins from Latvia was battling to make it to the main. In his first year in Junior Men he wasn’t able to make the main on day 1.
In Elite Women, Blandine Cottereau from France and Aneta Hladikova from Czech Republic had to compete with more then just European competitors. Sarah Wlaker from New Zealand and Samatha Cools from Canada made the trip to Belgium.
Aneta Hladikova made it to the main but had top brake hard to prevent a crash on the 2nd jump.
She managed to move up to 6th place. Everybody was looking forward to Elite Men class. Top 10 is very competitive.

Arturs Matisons and Maris Strombergs, both from Latvia, have been doing great in the US and were looking forward doing the same in Belgium.
Emilio Falla from Ecuador made the trip to Europe in order to stay at the UCI trainingcenter in Aigle, Switzerland, for a few months. Emilio just came back from an injury that kept him away from the Supercross in Madrid the week before. IN the 2nd moto Emilio crahed hard and hurt his wrist again, and the doctor didn’t allowe him to race the next day.
Â
Maris and Arturs were flying all day.
Maris Strombergs managed to make it into the main event and Arturs Matisons also flew his ONE colors to main event.
The main event was an awesome one. Everyone needs to check out the video on SCHIJFBMX later this week.
Maris unclipped and finished 8th, Arturs Matisons got 2nd place, but had to let Michal Prokop pass him before he crossed the finish line.
Â
Round 2
Magalie Pottier again was fast. The slippery turns, due to the “beach sand” on the track, made her slide away and crash in the semi.
Joyce had to keep the ONE/Kenda colors high.
Joyce took 3rd and is now 3rd overall. Magalie is in 4th ready to take revenge at the next rounds in Czech Republic.
Toms Skujins made it to the main. He was looking fast all day competing in the motos with the points leader Yvan Lapraz from Switzerland.
Â

Toms took 4th and is now 6th overall.
In Elite Women Blandine Cottereau and Aneta Hladikova made it both to the main.
Blandine got 3rd and Aneta 4th. Blandine is 5th now overall followed by Aneta in 6th.
Elite Men, last race of the weekend.
Â

Only Arturs Matisons made it to the. It seemed a copy of day 1, with a 3rd place again for Arturs.
Arturs is now in 3rd overall, Maris in 6th.

Next stop, round 3 and 4 in Czech Republic
