FACTORY FORMULA / MONSTER / FLY HEATS UP AT WINTERS

March 28, 2007 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

formula_monster_logo.jpgPhoenix, Arizona – Formula Bicycle Company sent three riders out to Phoenix to represent Formula and it’s two partners, Monster Energy Drink and Fly Racing. National #1 Women’s Pro, Alise Post was coming off a two month break in which she concentrated on getting a Minnesota state title in gymnastics. Post felt a bit rusty, but you know you can never count the champ out. Current 17-18 Expert points leader Lee Lewis also made the trip to Arizona to try to extend his NAG lead; every point counts. 15 Expert Lahsaan Kobza made his 2007 debut in Phoenix. Rainy weather caused some delays, but the track was good and ready to rock. Alise Post – Women’s Pro – Formula Solution Pro Minus Hybrid – Alise was in fine form and showed no signs of rust winning lap after lap, culminating in yet another Pro win on Saturday against the likes of Phoenix local Kim Hayashi, no less. On Sunday’s first main, Post was out front yet again but crashed hard in the slippery first turn and finished seventh. With her work cut out for her, Post won the second two mains only to come up one point short of Terra Nichols. “The Beast” had to settle for second place on Sunday but the weekend’s points were enough to vault her back to the top of the 2007 ABA Womne’s Pro points chase.

Lee Lewis – 17 Expert – Formula Solution Pro – Lee has been on a tear on 2007 and is currently NAG #1 in 17-18 Expert points. Saturday, Flea had a disastrous Open main, squeaking out a 7th. Redemption came in his Expert main, with yet another win and the top of the podium. Sunday, Lewis once again struggled in Open, but did well where it counts, finishing third in class. Lee is still on top of the 17-18 Expert points heap.

Lahsaan Kobza –
15 Expert – Formula Solution Pro Plus – Lahsaan hadn’t raced a national since ABA Grands so he definitely had some rust to shake off. In Saturday’s Open main, Kobza was leading until a bobble threw him to the back of the pack. But just like Lee, Kobza found his own redemption in his class main, with his first win of the year. Kobza battled sickness on Saturday night and just wasn’t up to it on Sunday and bowed out. One thing is for sure though, Kobza is back.

Where’s dR?

A ton of people have been wondering what’s up with Donny and why haven’t they seen him much this year. The answer is pretty simple really: he’s been training. dR’s USAC coaches have put him on a limited schedule to train for the Olympics, so expect Donny to concentrate on the UCI/NBL races as well as the UCI Supercross events. Donny will be in Florida for both NBL Nationals before heading off to Madrid, Spain for the UCI Supercross there. ALSO, dR has a new major corporate sponsor. Donny will be rocking a new jersey featuring both Formula and this new sponsor, and when we say major we mean major. This sponsor will be sure to get people’s tongues wagging. Along with Monster Energy Drink and Fly Racing, this new sponsor is just another in a line of premium partners that Donny and Formula will bring to BMX in 2007. As always dR is rocking Elites aboard his white Formula Solution Pro.
