Colombian BMX Pony Malta Nationals

colombianrace1.jpgRace report from the 3rd & 4rd round of Colombian BMX Pony Malta Nationals circuit 2007. The race was in Bogota-Colombia, organized by the Bogota Commission of bmx and Colombian BMX & Cycling federation. At Mario Soto`s track. With a smooth track layout the competitors were fast. Almost 370 riders from all over the country were in attendance at the race. Teams from Antioquia, Atlantico, Cauca, Caldas, Risaralda, Nariño, Magdalena, Bogota, Cundinamarca, Valle, Quindio.

Elite had 3 group of riders with names like Augusto Castro, Sergio Salazar, Andres Jinemez, Jose Diaz, Jonathan Villa and other top riders.
Elite men day one was hgue and very controversial. From the gate star was Castro and Jimenez with the lead but Jimenez put his brakes on in the first berm and Castro was stuck behind. Villa took the lead with Salazar and Jimenez under his neck. At the finish line with a foto finish Salazar took the win with Villa in second Jimenez 3rd. But he was DQF for the incident with Castro.

Elite Cr was Jimenez with the victory, Villa 2nd and Chavarria 3rd.
Challengers class was dominated by the local Bogota team, with almost 17 1st places, Pajon, Ramirez were dominating his mains.

2nd day of competition elite riders were a bit calm down, because the CEO of colombian national ask for a little calm between riders.
The mains were intense with the local elite rider Jose Diaz getting the holeshot in both mains elite men and cr elite, he was unbeatable all day long. Jimenez got 2nd place in elite and villa took 3rd. Challengers classes was pretty same at the firsts days with the local team bogota dominating every experts, novice and rookies wins.
