Mongoose Vert Pro Simon Tabron Reflects on His Best Year Ever

November 7, 2006 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

“MADISON, Wis. November 7, 2006 The 2006 BMX Vert competition season came to an end on Sunday, Oct. 29 with the LG World Championships held in Dallas Texas at the Reunion Arena. For Mongoose Vert pro Simon Tabron, it closed another chapter of success and dedication to the sport he loves. Simon was still a bit sore from the knee/ankle/foot injuries from Florida two weeks earlier but he soon forgot about the pain as he soared over the comps massive 14.5 vert ramp.”"Tabron qualified in 2nd place for the finals, confirming to himself that he’d recovered enough from his injuries to have some fun in the finals. After putting a really clean first run together, I found myself in 2nd place behind Chad Kagy with one chance left to change things around, said Tabron. For run two I decided to try a 900 straight into another 900. It’s been an ambition of mine for a while but its basically impossible! I spun the first 900 at about nine feet, hoping to land smooth enough to keep speed for a second but it just wasn’t quite enough and I had to settle for 2nd place! Still, it was the biggest 900 I had ever done! Simons big 900 landed him the Hard Trick Award and he was able to close out a great season. I have had one of the best years of my life in competition and would like to thank all of my sponsors, Mongoose, Adidas, LG, Bell Helmets, Eastpak bags and Clive Mitchell Cycles (who build my wheels) for their constant support and encouragement, said Simon. I couldn’t do it without such great sponsors and friends!
