VINTAGEBMX.COM / SUPERCROSS TEAM LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE
“The Star-Spangled Old School Crew Is Back In The Saddle And Stronger Than Ever San Antonio, TX August 4, 2006 Sometimes in life it seems like everything happens at once, doesnt it? Well, you need only look as far as the notorious VintageBMX.com/Supercross Team for proof. For starters, the team has launched a killer new Web site. Be among the first ever to check it out at http://get.radwith.us“”So whats up with that site address? We asked Team Manager Scot McKay about that. Well, when we decided to launch the web site, I went around and around with various awkward iterations of domain names with VintageBMX, Supercross BMX and such in them, explains McKay. Ill tell you, coming up for a web site URL when your team is already named after another one is an interesting challenge. Finally, I just woke up and decided to think out of the box. This site address seemed to say all the right things about us as a team, so we went with it. One of the most exciting things already happening at http://get.radwith.us is the chance for new riders to join the team! Check out the killer 2007 threads from Animal Designs at the top of the page. Wrapping yourself in that jersey is reason enough to want to ride for the team, and you are interested in joining, there is a submission form right in the middle of the front page. Ill read each inquiry and respond to everyone who writes, says McKay. We absolutely are expanding the Support Team roster, and also have two open spots on the National Team. ABA and NBL riders are welcome. [ Insert pic getrad2.jpg here Caption: Interested in being a part of a great team? Take the first step right from the front page of get.radwith.us! ] While the National Team is entirely composed of expert and pro riders over the age of 28, the Support Team is open to riders of any age or skill level. With official co-factory support from Supercross BMX and Fly Racing, the VintageBMX.com / Supercross Support Team is one of the coolest rides in the sport. Support Team riders are a strategic part of the teams success in both the ABA and the NBL, and are often on the team sheets at Nationals. How cool is that? The team is also welcoming link exchanges with other BMX sites. If interested, contact Scot McKay at scotmckay@vintagebmx.com. In other news, the team has added six (count em!) exciting new sponsors: Blur Optics, HRP Designs, Intense Tire Systems, Lizard Skins, Sun-Ringle, and X&Y Communications. Ive been using the Intense Haalo tires and Sun-Ringle wheels for quite a while, so Im very pleased that the team is officially recognizing that these are by far the best in BMX, says National Team member Rusty Watson (41-45 cr). 24 x 1.5 tires are hard to come by at all, and Intense happens to have great ones. And the Sun-Ringle wheels are light and strong. What more could I possibly want? Team Riders Jim Dallas (56-over cr) and his son Brian Dallas (16 expert) are stoked about the Lizard Skins partnership. We both prefer to ride with lock-on grips, and these are the most killer ones out there, explains Brian. The carbon / leather padset really has one of the most effective and aesthetically pleasing designs Ive seen, adds the elder Dallas. HRP Designs is responsible for the teams new 2007 Evel Knievel plate design. According to National Team rider Walter McGee (36-Over expert), Stuart Harrison has been making plates for me for quite a while, and you just cant beat the light weight and full-factory custom design. Lonny Lierley (36-over expert), National Team rider (and recent triple-champ at the Las Vegas ABA Southwest Nationals) adds, Yeah, that plate is going to encourage us to jump a little farther and a little higher. Hopefully without breaking every bone in our bodies. No kidding, huh Lonny? [ Insert pic plate.jpg here Caption: The new Evel Knievel plate from HRP Design will be seen flying high at a track near you! ] The teams partnership with Blur Optics is a special one, as it is the culmination of a long search for the right eyewear sponsor. Theres just something cool about being sponsored by a sunglass company, says National Team rider Troy Brady (26-30 cr). McKay adds, These are the most stylish shades around and Blur really has the extreme sport connection. Thats exactly what I had in mind, so I couldnt be more pleased. Finally, the team is being supported by X&Y Communications. So why is a company that specializes in dating coaching and writing online profiles involved with BMX? SimpleNational Team members Scot McKay and Emily Grillo (31-35 womens cr) are involved with X&Y. When not hanging out at the BMX track, the duo hosts a weekly podcast that can be downloaded for free from the X&Y Web site www.deservewhatyouwant.com. Check it out!
