2006 Florida State Money Team Series Rap-up….
“The 2006 Florida State Series has come and gone. This years season proved to be one of the toughest and closest series we have seen in years. With seven teams, each trying to get to the top spot on the podium, it was anybodies day to win at anytime. Each and every team finished on the box at one time or another, showing what a truly competitive series this is.”"Going into the Championship MCS Bicycles had the lead. Second through fourth place belonged to J&R/Profile, XTRSKN/Supercross and Felt/SAAB/Extremeathletes.com, with only 16 points separating the three teams. IC Bikes and Welham Bicycles were having their own battle in fifth and sixth, with ONE Bicycles rounding out the field in seventh. Championship races are always nail biters, no matter what. With a seemingly insurmountable lead MCS was the odds on favorite to repeat their title for the fifth straight year. With every manager clinching to their team sheets, the mains lined up. Every main seemed to plot the course of the championship title. At the end of the day, J&R/Profile would come out on top for the day with a perfect sheet! Congratulations to Gus their TM, he had a rougher than normal year. He will surely be in there next year. Felt/SAAB/Extremeathletes.com with had a perfect sheet of their own, unfortunately bonus points would regulate them to second place on the day. Not too bad for a first year team. Third place went to Welham Bicycles. With a couple more riders this team would be a contender at any race they go too. Fourth place would go to XTRSKN/Supercross. For as young of a program as they have Mario should be proud of his kids, they will definately be in there next year. IC Bikes finished in the sixth spot. This has been a pretty busy year for the hottest bike shop team in Florida, new babies, new riders… Once the waters settle down it will be back to business as usual. Lastly, MCS Bicycles, what can you say, to run a four rider sheet all year made it really difficult to keep their head above water. This day was not to be theirs as they had one of their worst finishes of the year. Not a good thing to be doing at a Championship Race. All of the points were so close, totaling up the scores for the year, MCS Bicycles was able to hold on to the championship based upon their lead coming in. J&R/Profile was right there finishing a mere sixteen points behind in second. Felt/SAAB/Extremeathletes.com was able to finish four points ahead of XTRSKN/Supercross to tie them for the year in points, with the node going to the Felt/SAAB/Extremeathletes.com. IC Bikes, Welham and ONE Bicycles took home fifth thru seventh respectively. On behalf of the Sunshine State Association I would like to thank everyone for their spirit of competition, professionalism and support of the 2006 Florida Money Team Series. I would also like to thank the Board for supporting our series, especially Alice Bixler and Becky Sasz. With out them we couldn’t have made it as good as it was!”
