Berkheimer Accident
“Kent, Washington – After the recent ABA National held in Lake Perris, CA, Diamondback’s AA Pro Racer/Dirt Jumper Nate Berkheimer crashed and broke his femur while riding the trails located next to the BMX track. The race was over, having got a third on cruiser and fifth in the class semi, Nate was just having fun jumping with everyone. The injury occurred when he looped the first set and ejected of the second. He said that he ran off the bike and on his third step it just buckled and he went down. Nate said he heard the snap… gnarly! The break was clean, the Doctor told him it was as good as you could hope for in a break.”"The update as of right now is the surgery went great. They put in a Ti rod. Nate should be up on crutches in a week, and back on his bike, hopefully, in about 2 month’s. Nate was in good spirits yesterday before surgery. Best wishes go out to him and lets hope for a quick recovery! We would also like to thank Nate’s co-sponsors: FSA, Sun Ringle, SST, AXO Cycling, Pony Footwear, Dragon and Liquid Charge.”
