From Brandon Meadows
“Update- $4700 Donated by the BMX Family. Thank You from Brandon Meadows First off we would like to take the time to tell everyone how I am doing. The complete diagnosis of my injury is as so; I ended up breaking my left femur displacing it at the hip joint. There was an existing rod in my leg but unfortunately I broke it above where that rod was. After 2-3 hrs of actual surgery the Dr. was able to remove the old rod and reconstruct my femur back to somewhat normal. In the process he had to install some hardware again to keep everything intact, but all in all he said that it went really well and I “”should”" be able to get back to normal activities after some intensive rehabilitation.”"After a few days of being in the hospital, my mother, Sarah, and myself made it home on Jan 1st. Let us tell you, that is not a way to spend ringing in the new year. However I was greeted at home by all of my immediate family as well as my bmx family. Words can’t express how greatfull I was to see all the emails, phone calls, posts, cards, etc. to wish me the best in my journey ahead. But what topped it all was to see the “”Help Brandon fund”" started by BMXnews’ own RM59, along with Tangent Products. I am still in such amazement of how the bmx community has joined together to help out one of their own in a time of need. After reading some of the comments, it brought tears to my eyes to see how much people care and are willing to help. Everything donated will be accepted with open arms and hearts and will help Sarah, Emma, and myself more than one can imagine. If I had any doubts of trying to come back and race again, I don’t anymore. The support from you all has given me all the motivation that I need to try and make once again another comeback. It will be a hard and long process to do so, but I will promise you that I will see you at a future race. I would personally like to thank anyone that is going to be at the Reno race Jan. 6-8. I am going to try my hardest to make it there one of the days so that I can show my appreciation to all that was there for me in my worst of times. So look for the guy walking around the pits with a walker. Chances are that is me!!! Also I would like to make a special thanks to Rhonda Brown. Thank you for being there from the moment I crashed until the moment my family got there. Bob and Poly T., we appreciate the visit and the help with everything. Robbie Mirranda, Derek Novaes, Rich Pelton, and everyone else that has posted something, thank you so much. If there is anyone that I have forgotten, I do apologize, but again if you see me in Reno just come up to me and I will be glad to thank you personally. One more time…..THANKS with much respect Brandon, Sarah, and Emma Meadows”
