FORMULA DEBUTS IN RENO

January 16, 2006 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

“Reno, Nevada Donny Robinson, Warren McDow, and Chad Kerley all made the trip to the ABAs Silver Dollar Nationals in Reno, Nevada this past weekend as members of the new Formula Bicycles Factory Team. Expectations were high and the team did not disappoint, looking good and fast on the new Formula Solution frames.”"Donny Robinson looked faster than ever aboard his new Formula Solution Pro and Pro Cruiser. Donny was out front of nearly every moto. Come main time on Saturday, Donny was in the mix every round and lead the third go around until the stripe where he was just edged out by Bubba. Donny ended up with an overall third in AA Pro on Saturday. Donny was battling for the lead in Saturdays Pro Cruiser main with Jason Rogers but took a spill in the first turn. Sunday, Donny got a bad gate in his semi, went for a pass in turn two but ended up crashing with Bubba Harris. In his Pro Cruiser main, he was battling for the lead once again and ended up on the podium as usual, this time with a third. Donny had this to say about his new bikes, I love em. A lot of time and effort went into designing these things and its awesome when something you work your butt off for comes out right. Something has gotten into Warren McDow lately someone needs to check the Atlanta public water supply. After a dominating performance at the Christmas Classic, Warren picked up right where he left off with a win in Saturdays 17-18 Expert main, beating the likes of Jeff Upshaw and ABA National #1 Amateur, David Herman. In Sundays main, McDow had the lead right up until the line where he was just edged out by Upshaw. In 17-24 Open, McDow grabbed two seconds for the weekend. Is Warren finally getting used to the ABA? Well, with some consistent finishes so far, McDow looks like he has finally arrived. Look for Warren at the ABA Gator Nationals in Florida aboard his Formula Solution Pro. Jumping on a brand new Formula Solution Expert XL, Chad grabbed his new ABA 11 Expert NAG #1 plate and got things started for team Formula on Saturday with a win in 11-12 Open. In 11x, Kerley had his hands full tangling with the likes of Anthony Derosa and Lain Van Ogle down the first straight. Third would have been his if he didnt shut it down on the last straight due to some drivetrain issues. On Sunday, Kerley grabbed a second in 11-12 Open and, in his class main, Kerley won it down the first straight until Derosa bombed into turn one and came out with the lead. Chad followed him in second, pulled him hard through the third straight rhythm, dove into the last turn, bumped Derosa and made the pass. The bump, however, scrubbed off a lot of speed allowing Van Ogle to squeeze by Kerley at the line. Look for Donny Robinson at the next ABA pro series race in Oldsmar, Florida then the NBLs Puerto Rico national aboard his new Formula bikes.
