ABA BMX Hall ‘O Fame

“Well, the votes are in and have all been tallied. This year we’re honoring three of the all time greats of our sport. 2005 marks the 20 Anniversary of the ABA BMX Hall ‘O Fame. Below is the list of the 2005 ABA BMX Hall ‘O Fame inductees. The induction ceremony will take place on November 23, 2005 at 2:00pm at ABA’s host hotel, Adam’s Mark Hotel. The induction will be in conjunction with the BMXer Magazine Golden Crank Awards.”"ABA would like to be the first to congratulate the new inductees and thank everyone who voted this year! Greg Esser: Greg was one of the early BMX legends on the East Coast. The name Esser, and BMX on the east coast are synonymous. Essers career spans from the earliest BMX days in Florida, all the way into the early 80s. Owner of numerous Pro National Championships and No.1s. Greg rode for top BMX Companies such as MCS and GT Bicycles. Today, Greg and family run and operate Metal Works; which manufactures aftermarket Ford Mustang parts and Sportbike parts. When not working in his shop, Greg can be found racing Superbikes on the AMA circuit, and can occasionally be spotted on ESPN. Clint Miller: Raced from 1977 to 1985. Clint rode for JMC, GJS, DG, Kuwahara, Torker, and GHP during his career. Turned Pro in 1981, became IBMXF World Champion in Holland in 1983. He briefly returned to BMX, reclassified to amateur, racing for fellow Hall ‘O Famer, and long time friend, Harry Learys DirtWerx Company. Clint still rides and races BMX occasionally at the Cutting Edge BMX track. Clint can be found racing motocross on his Honda 450f at Glen Helen Raceway on most weekends. Clint is currently living in San Dimas, Ca. with his wife and daughter. Yvonne Shoup: Owner/founder of Free Agent. Yvonne took her team to ABA No.1 Factory team titles three straight. Free Agent owned the late 80′s BMX scene taking the ABA titles ’87 thru ’89. Yvonne gave many top ranked racers their start; Kenny May, Matt Hadan, Eric Carter, Galin Starlin, Andy Contes, and Marty Christman, paving a path for all garage companies in BMX, supporting a large, full time BMX team for growth and making their reputation known on the track instead of through magazine advertising. Breakthrough frame design in the late 80s which became industry standard, the longer wheel based Free Agent Limo was a the frame of choice for many top racers and privateer Pro’s of the day.”
