Double A Marketing ABA – UCI Supercross

September 12, 2005 by BMXNEWS.COM Editors

“The UCI Supercross series came to a conclusion this past weekend in a very big way. The UCI had been able to coordinate with NBC sports to be apart of the San Jose stop of the Dew Action Sports tour. The BMX race was an extra event for the weekend’s action, not actually a part of the Dew Tour, as it was fully ran by the UCI, with help from the NBL. It was showcased on the TV broadcast on NBC Sports on Saturday, September 10th and the semi finials and main event were shown.”"With the best TV coverage for BMX racing in history, and the consistent reminder of BMX racing being in the 2008 Olympics, it seems that there is big talk of adding BMX racing to more TV schedules for 2006. This was by far one of the best and most enjoyed events of the 2005 season and we sure hope that the UCI expands the Supercross series next year. Here is how the Double A Marketing riders in attendance finished up. Kyle Bennett has always been noted as one of the smoothest riders around and the bigger the jumps, the more Kyle shines. At San Jose, the huge jumps, fit Kyle’s style perfectly. Riding flat pedals, Kyle made his way into the main event. When the gate dropped, Kyle was off the pace just a bit and was cut off on the tight 1st strait. Going into the 2nd turn, Kyle was ready to make his move, as a crash went down and Kyle was able to move up to the front of the pack and finish up 3rd overall. Kyle’s sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Answer, Kenda, Sun Ringle, UGP, Truvativ, Velo, S & M bars, ATI, Shimano, Profile, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com. Randy Stumpfhauser went to stop one of the Supercross series and placed 3rd overall. With a large overall Series purse, as well as the TV coverage, Randy was looking to have a great weekend. Randy made his way into the main event and was ready to hit the track. As the gate dropped, Randy looked to have the early lead, but was just edged out going into the first turn by Robert and Mike. As Randy took his time to make his move, a huge crash in the 2nd turn ended all hopes for a top 3 finish, as Randy had to jump up and look for his bike, holding him back to 5th overall. With that finish though, Randy secured the 2nd overall spot in the UCI Series. Randy’s sponsors include GT Bicycles, Hyundai, ODI, Kenda Tires, Tangent, Sun Rims, Bombshell Forks, Fly Racing, Time Pedals, SRAM, Powerbar, CTI Knee Braces, Tool Shed, SDG, DC Shoes, Easton, S & M, Fox Riders Company Clothing, Cyto Sport/Cyto Max, and BMXpros.com. Brandon Meadows has been out for a few weeks after a bad crash in Colorado. Brandon was unsure if he would even be able to race this event, but once he went there and saw the track, he did his best to get on his bike and have fun. Brandon had fun all the way to the main event and as up front going into turn 2. Brandon was not settling for 3rd overall, so he went for a inside line to pass Robert and Mike, but unfortunately slid out and crashed after bumping Robert. Brandon finished up 6th for the day, but had a great time doing so. Brandon’s sponsors include Specialized, Fly Racing, Tangent, Thomson, Big Tool, Shimano, Cyto Sport/Cyto Max, Sun Ringle, Powerbar, and BMXpros.com. Cristian Becerine also went to the first round of the Supercross series and finished up 2nd. He looked to keep his consistency moving forward in San Jose. Cristian easily made it to the semi, but unfortunately was bumped down the first strait and unclipped just before the huge set of doubles going into the 1st turn. This made it impossible fro Cristian to continue the track and he did not transfer into the finial. He did however accumulate enough points to take the 3rd overall spot in the series and the big check to go along with it. Cristian’s sponsors include Crupi, O’Neal, UGP, ODI, Sun Ringle, Shimano, Tool Shed, Powerbar, BMXpros.com, Cyto Sport/Cyto Max, and Thomson Seat Posts.”
